XLOGON5.PUB.ALLEGRO is an MPE V/E-only version of the XLOGON program. (It checks the MPE version and will terminate nicely if not run under MPE IV or V/P.) (Sorry, we do not know of an equivalent program for MPE/iX.) XLOGON5 is used to dynamically change your logon username, group, account, and job name...without logging off! It, and its MPE IV version (XLOGON), truly win the "utility of the year" award! How to use ---------- (1) RUN XLOGON5.PUB.ALLEGRO;INFO="USER.ACCT,GROUP" or (2) RUN XLOGON5.PUB.ALLEGRO you will then be prompted: HELLO: now, enter: USER.ACCT,GROUP Security ramifications ---------------------- If you do NOT have PM capability, XLOGON5 will ask you to enter the user/account/group passwords (if they exist). If these passwords do not match, your xlogon is rejected and a console message is generated. If they match, the xlogon is done and a console message is generated. (If you had PM, password checking is not done, and no message is generated...users with PM already have the ability to ascertain everyone's password...so any attempt to force them to type in a password is just plain dumb.) Once you have used XLOGON5 to xlogon to a different user (or group, or account), it logically ORs the new user/group/account capabilities into your original capabilities. These enhanced capabilities will last until you logoff. File equates, JCWs, and open DS lines will remain intact and available after an xlogon. If your xlogon request would cause you to go from one disc domain to another (i.e.: from system disc to a private volume, or from one private volume to another, or from a private volume to the system disc), AND if you have an open $OLDPASS file, XLOGON5 will ask you if you want to purge it. If you say NO, the xlogon will be rejected. If you say YES, the file will be purged and then the xlogon will be done. If run from a JOB, the purge is automatic.
